A Visitor...

As a cool Halloween wind
pounds at your windowpanes,
an eerie voice rises above the din,
calling you
in the night.

Footsteps sound all around you.
Shadows dance against
the glow thrown off by the
jack-o-lanterns.

And then, the door
slowly creaks open.
Something is near,
an unexpected visitor.
Your heart races.
Your eyes faintly bulge.

But then you realize that
it's just me
dropping in to wish you
the best Halloween ever.
So here goes:

Happy Halloween!
