     The Proposal

A box of candy and a pink rose bouquet,
I bring to you, dearest one, today,
Today I face a daunting task,
For a very special question I seek to ask,
We've known each other for many years,
Joined in laughter and in tears,
Darling, surely you must by now know,
How very much I love you so,
My love, dear heart, is strong and true,
And I pray you feel the same thing too,
I want you to walk with me through life,
Oh darling, will you be my wife,
I have the license, I have the ring,
If you say yes how my heart will sing,
Let us stand together on that special day,
As each to the other our vows we say,
Then we'll walk back down that long aisle,
Both faces wearing a great big smile,
I'm very nervous, I must confess,
Oh, my darling, please say yes.
