The Christmas Letter Merry Christmas, my sweet darling In our home there across the sea Today I got the greatest news With you for Christmas I might be. The captain told me this morning And all day as we did fight In my mind I was composing This letter that I now write. Please don't buy me lots of presents To put beneath the Christmas tree The only gift I truly want Is in your loving arms to be. So please pray for me, my darling That the captain's words will come true That on that bright and holy Christmas night I might be there at home with you. And if I somehow cannot make it Don't let the teardrops start For I'll still be there, my angel If only in my heart.
