Lila Was Blue

Whenever Lila Blue would walk downtown
The folks would always look her way.
For she was a lady, and none be found
Within 10 miles; or so they say..

She was rich, as wealthy as a queen,
and splendidly dressed in lace and fur.
For most, she was everything to
make them fancy to be as her.

So on went the chores, and
poverty, hunger and many ills.
And Lila Blue, upon leaving
the town's cobbled streets,
went home and swallored a
bottle of sleeping pills.
