Treasured Memories

Looking back at days gone by
The one I think that I like best
Was the day that I first saw you
My heart fair leaped out of my chest!
You stood alone upon the beach
Just looking out to the sea
Outlined by the setting sun
I prayed you'd turn and look at me.
Then came that glorious moment
When you turned and our eyes met
Something wordless passed between us
That I still remember yet.
What that feeling really was
To this day I can't truly say
But my heart leaped from me to you
Upon that blessed, sunset day.
As you walked slowly towards me
You moved with grace divine
And it was at that moment
I knew you must become mine.
As we stood there facing each other
I simply could not say a word
My heart was beating so very hard
I swore it could be heard.
And then you oh so sweetly
Reached out and took my hand
And we walked beneath the moonlight
Leaving footprints in the sand.
Yes, I look back upon that sunset eve
And give grateful thanks to God above
That He gifted me that precious day
With you, my heart, my soul, my love.
