In Tribute Sodden, mist draped trees Crown the hilltop crest Where a brave hero Is laid to eternal rest. Yes, this brave, valiant hero War torn lands no more will roam His earthly battle now is through God has called his soldier home. This hero fought for freedom's cause Selflessly he sacrificed his life Leaving behind a very young son And a grieving, heartbroken wife. These two stand close together On this gray and drizzly morn The young boy not really understanding The wife wondering if the pain can be born. As the mourners begin leaving On the headstone she mounts in place A final tribute to her love Then turns with tears upon her face. And as they turn to walk away The son turns 'round and he salutes His father's grave in deep respect His eyes on those bronzed service boots. In deepest respect and highest honor to the fallen heroes, past, present, and future.
