Singing Birthday E-CardsLyric poetry is so called because it was often sung to the accompaniment of a stringed instrument called the lyre in ancient Greece and Rome. More recently, Goethe, Klopstock, and Robert Burns wrote poems that are actually sung. However, much lyric poetry is not actually designed for singing, but is still called “lyric poetry” because it possesses a songlike quality. The Odes of Horace are a good example. Among the singing birthday e-cards of passionup.com is a humorous card entitled “Birthday Magic.” Its music is the familiar song: “Happy birthday to you.” Though the words are not actually sung, the melody is played in a sweetly lyrical piano arrangement that seems to sing. Whether or not you like the common birthday song, you will enjoy the imaginative way it is performed in the singing birthday e-cards of passionup.com. |
