Lady Liberty...
. . . . . . . . . . 9/11
Lady Liberty shines
bright tonight;
during our darkest hour,
she's sending her light.
We Americans stand
strong and brave;
as the Liberty Bell rings,
a new path is paved.
Beneath a cloud
of pain and sorrow,
we're united in our
hope for tomorrow.
Our spirit strengthened
by Tuesday's plight,
the eagle's wings
are stretched wide in flight.
So grant us vision,
grant us sight,
to
guard our land
for
peace with justice ~
mercey too,
for all mankind.
Although he can no longer claim copyright (his work has now been combined with that of other artists) I think we all know who wrote that last part of this memorial. I cannot help but recall a quote recently found by Johannah (Turner) Hughes:
"Poets are the unacknowledged legislators of the world!" ... Percy Bysshe Shelley, Poet, 1792 ~ 1822.
Take time out this September 11th to remember those who have paid the ultimate price.
If you know a soldier in the Middle East, write him/her a letter of appreciation for the difficult services they are endeavoring to provide under most trying circumstances.
God bless them, everyone.
