Plenty of Dirt...

Let them cut you down,
hit you with their lies.
Let them stomp you in the mud,
for like the dust, you'll rise.

They'd like to upset you,
fill you up with gloom,
but close your heart to every word.
Pretend there's just no room.

Never let them see you broken.
Hold yourself with pride.
Face them with newfound hope
when every tear has dried.

And should they try to outwit you
with many a haughty wile.
Don't say a word, just reply
with a devastating smile.

Yes, they will offend you,
but refuse to take it hard.
Remember that they have
plenty of dirt
lying in their own backyard.

"Plenty of Dirt," written and designed by Bobette Bryan, 2002
